What is dosa ?

A dosa is a crisp savory pancake,
It has a slightly tangy taste due to the fermentation and is savory rather than sweet. Without the filling, on its own, it's called 'plain dosa' that can be eaten with a variety of vegetable curries, sambar and coconut chutney, etc..

In earlier days, the people used only rice for making dosa
History of dosa says that they were made using only rice but with the passage of time, people started to add urad dal / black lentils to give texture and taste. Dosas became very popular with the rise of Udupi restaurants which serve the best dosa varieties – plain, set, and masala dosa...

The method of eating dosa is very exciting ..
In fact, it's customary in Indian culture to eat Dosa with your hands ..
I like to tear it off and eat it in small bites. If it's served with a dip or chutney, you can tear pieces off and dunk it into the dip or sauce before eating, or you can leave it whole and dip as you go..
